August 2019- Private Home in Maine

Anna and Nate got married at Anna’s parents’ home in Maine. From the very beginning, Anna and Nathan knew exactly what they wanted: a fun wedding weekend that would bring their closest friends and family together from around the world. The weekend was filled with glamping, swimming, campfires, eating lobster, and enjoying a magical laid back weekend.

Their field was transformed into a glamping village by Stout Tent. Their adventurous guests opted to stay in furnished glamping tents for the weekend located in the backyard of the home. To ensure guests had all the amenities, a shower trailer and bathrooms were brought in and located in the field for easy access.

The beautiful “venue” was built by Coastal Maine Canopies and constructed by using (2) Sail Cloth tents and connected by a seamless beautiful marquee. This layout allowed for more space and more options in case of rain. It also created a stunning entrance into the reception tent and a cozy bar lounge.

The original plan was to dine al fresco for the wedding, but Maine weather had other plans. Luckily we planned ahead and had great options for Plan A and B.

PLANNING TIP: When you are building your own venue, you need to plan for the weather. For this wedding, we made sure the tent was the perfect size for dining in case we had to move the tables inside (which we did) and could hold a ceremony. If dining had been outside, we ordered small round tables that could be placed in the tent to fill up space and give people seating after dinner and during dancing.

Design details: bright colors paired with simplistic, boho, and whimsical details. We incorporated bright flowers  (did you see those beautiful peonies?!), DIY wildflower arrangements sourced from a local flower farm, colored goblets, fringe napkins, touches of gold, and bright rugs and furniture. We kept the table design to a minimum to allow space for their family-style meal.

PLANNING TIP: If you are providing a family-style meal at your wedding, make sure to communicate this with your florist and plan to leave enough space for large platters and bowls. If you have too much decor or floral on the table, your guests will feel overwhelmed.
